According to the Hindu mythology, the peacock was created from one of the feathers of the bird Garuda which is the carrier of Lord Vishnu. Many Hindu scriptures use peacocks as symbol of the cycle of time. The peacock is also associated with Goddess Saraswati, a deity representing benevolence, patience, kindness, compassion and knowledge. It has a special relation with Lord Krishna too. Lord Krishna wears peacock feathers on his head and also ties them with his flute.
